The Journey to Becoming a Great Assistant.
Becoming a Great Assistant isn't about firing off a resume and hoping for the best. It's a thoughtful, thorough journey — one designed to place you with an entrepreneur where you'll genuinely thrive, then support you long after the match is made. Here's what that journey looks like.
Start here.
In a couple of minutes, Great Assistant founder Tim Francis welcomes you, shares who we are and what we look for, and explains what to expect as a candidate.
A thorough process — because the match matters.
We're not filling seats. We're building working relationships meant to last for years. That's why our application and vetting process is more involved than most — every step is there to make sure you and the entrepreneur are genuinely right for each other.
-
1Apply
Find the role that fits, and apply
Browse our open positions and apply to the ones that match your skills, your schedule, and what you're looking for. Every posting is fully transparent — employment type, hours, pay, and expectations are all laid out up front.
-
2Assessments
Complete our enterprise assessments
You'll complete a handful of enterprise-grade assessments — including the Kolbe Index — that look at your instincts, reasoning, reading, writing, and how you naturally work. Complete them once and they're good for a full year across any position you apply to.
-
3Skills & scenarios
Show your work on real-world tasks
Beyond the assessments, you'll work through practical exercises that mirror the day-to-day of the role — so your strengths speak for themselves, and you get a real feel for the work before you ever start.
-
4Interviews
Meet our team, then the entrepreneur
If you're shortlisted, you'll interview with our team first, and then with the entrepreneur you'd be supporting. This is the moment to make sure the chemistry, the communication, and the fit feel right on both sides.
-
5The Match
Get matched as a dedicated assistant
When it's a fit, you're matched to one entrepreneur as their dedicated right-hand person — not shared, not rented out. That's what lets you learn their business deeply and build the kind of trust that compounds over time.

6Welcome to the family
Grow with free training and ongoing support
Once you're placed, you join the Great Assistant family. We provide free training and ongoing support to help you excel in the role — because your success is what makes the whole thing work.
A note on your safety. Great Assistant will never ask for payment or fees at any stage of the process. We post roles on our official site (greatassistant.com) and on reputable job boards including LinkedIn, FlexJobs, and Manatal, and we reach out only from our official Great Assistant email addresses. A posting on one of those boards is legitimate — but anyone asking you for money, or contacting you from an unofficial address, is not us. If anyone requests money to apply or get hired, don't proceed — report it to us right away.
Hear it from the assistants themselves.
The best way to understand the journey is to hear from the people who've walked it.
One assistant's real journey.
Curious what it's actually like — from first application to thriving in the role? Here's Alyssa's story, in her own words.
Alyssa Holguin had recently moved to a new city and was finding it hard to land a role where her Communications degree, professional experience, and passion for technology and organization would be valued. Having worked remotely a few days a week before, she felt strongly that a work-from-home opportunity was the key to a role that fit her background and goals. She started searching for remote work and responded to Great Assistant's posting for Sprintwell's Virtual Assistant position.
After extensive vetting and several interviews, Alyssa was welcomed into the Great Assistant Program. She was given training to support entrepreneurs remotely, was offered the Virtual Assistant position at Sprintwell, and began working as a Great Assistant in Summer 2019.
“The whole process and communication with Great Assistant was so easy. It was timely and clear. They supported me and provided me with the tools and training to be great at what I do.”
Alyssa now supports Sprintwell's cofounders with day-to-day administration — managing inboxes and calendars, client invoicing, project management, and organizing events and workshops. Thanks to her drive and quick learning, she's also taken on editing videos for social media, filing taxes, and applying for trademarks. Because of her work, the cofounders now have more mental space to connect with their audience in a more impactful way.
“I feel valued, I have a great work-life balance, and I know my work as a Great Assistant makes a real difference to their business.”
Start your journey.
Flexible schedules, 100% remote, and a team invested in your growth. If you excel at communication, organization, and making an impact, your next role may be waiting.
